Favorites are a group of folders where you save your favorite Web site URL's in IE. Keep them organized and you'll always be able to find the Web sites you want, fast.
Keeping your Favorites folder organized is essential if you want to be able to find your favorite Web sites again. Organizing your Favorites is best done as you add them to your Favorites list. If you haven't been organizing as you add, you can do it later, it's just a little more work.
Here is a little tutorial to show you how you can get your Favorites in Internet Explorer organized, and keep them that way.
Organizing Favorites in Internet Explorer
Open Favorites Organizer - In the link menu at the top of your browser, click "Favorites". From the drop down menu, click "Organize Favorites".
Create a Folder - In the Favorites organizer you'll see a button that says "New Folder"; click on this button.
Name Your Folder - What do you have too much of? You have a lot of Web pages that can fit into one category, maybe Web sites about your favorite hobby? Give your new folder a name to go with those Web pages. Click "OK".
Example: Say you like cats. You have a page about feeding cats, one about grooming cats and another about cat toys. Create a folder to put these pages in. Call the folder something like , "Cat Care".
Move Web Pages - Click on the Web page you want to move into the new folder. Click on the "Move" button on the Favorites organizer. Choose the folder you want to move the Web page to and click "OK". Keep doing this until all the Web pages you want to add to that folder are added.
Keep Going - Add more folders and sub-folders and add Web pages to them until you are organized.
Categorize Favorites in Internet Explorer As You Go
Open Favorites Box - When you come across a Web page you want to save to your favorites you might as well organize it while you're adding it. Click on "Favorites" and then click "Add To Favorites" to get started.
Name Favorite - Give the Web page a name. Even though it already has a name, you may still want to give it a more memorable name so you can recognize it easier later.
Example: This is what Photos.com says when I try to save it to favorites, "Stock Photos - Professional Royalty-Free Stock Photos by Subscription at Photos.com". I renamed it "Photos.com" to make it easier to remember and find later.
Choose a Folder - From the drop-down box you can choose a folder to add your Web page to.
Create a New Folder - If you don't have an appropriate folder for the Web page, you can create a new one by clicking the "New Folder" button and creating a new folder name. From here you can also make your new folder into a sub-folder by choosing another folder to file it under.
Add - Click the "Add" button when you're finished adding your Web page to a folder.
