The highly anticipated launch of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 was just launched. The new and improved web browser is now available for download.
It’s official. The highly anticipated Internet Explorer 8 beta 1 is now available. The new and improved web browser by Microsoft was launched last week and is available for download.
New features and improvements include:
Automatic Crash Recovery provides valuable assistance to frustrated users in case of browser crash or hang. ACR now recovers from crashes and hangs which prevents loss of productivity and work by restoring the last session. ACR includes “tab recovery” in case of crash. Users no longer have to delve through countless history webpages to find where they were last working.
Safety Filter-Continuing a step further with the phishing filter of IE7, IE8 includes a new “Safety Filter”.
Favorites Bar- Formerly known as the “Links” bar, this new area below the address bar has undergone a complete metamorphosis. Renamed “Favorites” in IE8, this bar provides one handy location for all favorites. Now users can place all their favorite content in one easily accessible location. Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents can also be added to the “Favorites” bar.
WebSlices-WebSlices is another feature new to IE8 that integrates Ebay, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Live Maps and more in one convenient location; your browser. Similar to “feeds” where users “subscribe” to various websites and are notified when changes or updates occur, those changes are now available on IE8. Users can preview the changes without having to visit the specific websites. Previews are available in the new IE8 Favorites area. When users click the update, a WebSlice appears with updated info. If users want further information, they visit the individual website for further information. The WebSlice function can be disabled.
Activities-Activities provide several new options for users. By highlighting a word or phrase on a webpage and right clicking, users are allowed numerous choices previously not available. With a simple click of the right mouse button, users can take the highlighted word or phrase and can map with Live Maps integration, blog with Live Spaces, Search with Live Search, send to Hotmail, translate the term or look up the definition by using Encarta. Specific Activities are individually installed and managed be each user. Some Activities do not yet appear in the shortcut menu (by right clicking).
IE8 System Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista® Service Pack 1
Windows Vista
Windows XP® Service Pack 2
Windows Server® 2008
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
While IE8 has passed the infamous Acid2 test, it is important to note, this is a beta version.

I'm a little angry. I have a program, that uses the WebBrowser- Object and
manipulates the Page-Settings- Dialog to change the printer, and the other
settings on this dialog. With IE8.0 there is no way to set the
printer- settings without changing the default printer. I use many
very different printers, with many formats of papers, where I have to
change first printer, and then the other settings. With IE8.0
Microsoft has stolen with the redesign of the Page-Setup Dialog this
opportunity, because with this new Dialog you cannot change the printer and
even not the paper-source.... VERY BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!
